Barış Yavuz
The Baritone Barış Yavuz began his opera singing studies at the Istanbul University State Conservatory at the age of 17.
This was followed by a Master's degree at the Hochschule für Musik Karlsruhe, which he completed in 2021 with top marks and was particularly influenced by his regular collaboration with Julia Varady and Dorothea Röschmann.
He already had numerous engagements during his studies, including performances with the Istanbul State Symphony Orchestra and as part of the Salzburg ‘Oper im Berg’ festival.
As a prizewinner of numerous singing competitions, he won the Special Award at the 3rd International Singing Competition ‘Sedat Gürel - Güzin Gürel Arts and Science Foundation’, the 1st prize at the 10th National Young Soloists Singing Competition and the 1st prize at the 20th Siemens Opera Competition in Istanbul.
From 2018 to 2021, Barış Yavuz was a member of the opera studio at the Badisches Staatstheater Karlsruhe and sang roles such as Masetto in Don Giovanni, Wagner in Faust and Nathanel in The Tales of Hoffmann.
Appearances with the Wernigerode Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra and at the Saarländisches Staatstheater complete his artistic profile.
Since the beginning of 2023, he has been a permanent member of the ensemble at the Anhaltisches Theater Dessau, where he has impressed audiences with performances including Nicomedes in König Kandaules, Masetto in Don Giovanni, Baron Weps in Der Vogelhändler, and Sharpless in Madama Butterfly.
In the 2025/26 season, he can be seen at the Anhaltisches Theater in the revival of La Bohème as Schaunard, as well as in two new productions: as Guglielmo in Così fan tutte and Dr. Falke in Die Fledermaus.
