Ferhat Baday

Turkish bass Ferhat Baday is a former member of the International Opera Studio at the Komische Oper Berlin, where he appeared during the 2022/23 and 2023/24 seasons. His repertoire there included Zarezki (Eugene Onegin), the Second Armored Man (The Magic Flute), the Tutor (Les Brigands), Ville Vätte and Olle (Nils Holgersson’s Wonderful Adventures), Doeg (Saul), the First Gravedigger (Hamlet), and both the Herald and Farfarello (The Love for Three Oranges). In the 2024/25 season, he will make his debut at the Deutsche Oper Berlin, appearing as Dankwart and Hagen in Ab in den Ring! and in the world premiere of Gordon Kampe’s children’s opera Immermeeehr.
Mr. Baday studied at the State Conservatory of Dokuz Eylül University in Izmir, earning a Bachelor of Music degree in 2023. During this time, he also gained stage experience in various student productions and competitions.
In addition to his ensemble work, Mr. Baday has collaborated with conductors including Adrien Perruchon, David Bates, James Gaffigan, Erina Yashima, Marie Jacquot, and Hendrik Vestmann. He has also worked with stage directors such as Axel Ranisch, Max Hopp, Nadja Loschky, and Ruth Brauer-Kvam.
He was awarded first prize at the 2022 Young Soloists Competition in Izmir, Turkey.
