Behind the artistry.
Xin Wang is a Vienna-based cultural manager and soprano whose work connects European artists and institutions with the performing-arts sector in Greater China and across Asia. As Regional Representative for Asia and Greater China at Kanttila Management, she develops relationships with theatres, orchestras, universities and cultural partners, focusing on artist representation, touring, education and international cooperation.
In 2026, Wang initiated and delivered The Philharmonic Brass’s first tour in mainland China, presenting the ensemble at Beijing Concert Hall and Hangzhou Grand Theatre. She also established a Young Artists Training Program in Beijing, creating direct exchange between leading European orchestral musicians and young Chinese performers. The project demonstrates her ability to translate ambitious artistic concepts into sustainable partnerships and fully realised international engagements.
Also in 2026, she founded the Vienna Principal Ensemble as a platform for chamber music, cultural exchange and international touring. The ensemble debuted during Vienna’s Bezirksfestwochen and subsequently appeared at the Musikverein. Wang continues to develop engagements for European artists and ensembles while facilitating Chinese cultural presentations in Austria, including performances at the Vienna Konzerthaus and Musikverein.
From 2018 to 2020, Wang organised the Chinese Ball at the Hofburg Vienna. With Stadttheater Bad Hall, she produced Franz Lehár’s operetta The Land of Smiles and co-presented an exhibition by Chinese artist Tang Yongli. She has supported China projects involving the Vienna Boys’ Choir and other Austrian artists, and developed cooperation between The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen and Viennese music institutions.
Her management work is informed by an extensive operatic and concert career. Wang has performed with the Vienna Philharmonic, Sofia Philharmonic, Bruckner Orchestra Linz, Vienna Chamber Orchestra, Cairo Symphony Orchestra, Győr Philharmonic and Shanghai Philharmonic. Her appearances include Carnegie Hall, Vienna Musikverein, Vienna Konzerthaus, Brucknerhaus Linz, Cairo Opera House and the Grafenegg Festival. Her roles include Fiordiligi in Così fan tutte, Alcina, Adina in L’elisir d’amore, Ilia in Idomeneo and Mi in The Land of Smiles.
Her distinctions include First Prize at the 1st International Opera Competition Hong Kong, Second Prize - with First Prize not awarded - at the 5th Giovani Musicisti International Competition in Treviso, and a Special Prize with concert engagement at the Competizione dell’Opera in Linz. In 2022, Gramola released her debut art-song album celebrating 50 years of diplomatic relations between China and Austria; she also recorded Anton Diabelli’s complete songs for voice and guitar for Supreme Classics.
Wang studied at the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing, the Anton Bruckner Private University in Linz and the Music and Arts University of the City of Vienna (MUK), completing her advanced degrees with distinction. She also completed postgraduate studies in Baroque singing with Roberta Invernizzi and is an Artist-in-Residence at the School of Music of The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen.
