Before the curtain went up at the Staatstheater Kassel, our Director of Operations, Andrew Liefländer, sat down with the two of them for a very off-the-cuff interview (… that’s the term we’re going for 😄) to chat about working together, what they were looking forward to in the performance, and a few things in between. We are thrilled to share that baritone Carl Rumstadt has reached the final of the International Singing Competition for Wagner Voices in Bayreuth!

From an extraordinary field of 278 applicants from 39 countries, only four singers have been selected for the final — a wonderful achievement in itself. On 11 August 2026, Carl will perform in Bayreuth with 90 members of the Bayreuth Festival Orchestra, conducted by Axel Kober, before a distinguished jury chaired by Katharina Wagner and including legendary mezzo-soprano Waltraud Meier. 🎉 to stage director Michiel Dijkema for tonight's premiere of Wagner's "Das Rheingold" with the National Theatre Vanemuine at the Saaremaa Opera Festival! This production will mark the beginning of the first-ever complete Ring cycle to be performed in Estonia! 🍾🍾🍾

✨ Kanttila Management is delighted to welcome Helena Sturm as the first choreographer to join our agency roster!

Following our expansion to include conductors and stage directors in 2024, we are now taking another step forward with the representation of choreographers and dancers. Helena is an internationally active choreographer, dance dramaturg, dancer and stage performer whose work spans ballet, opera, musical theatre and interdisciplinary performance. From 2023 to 2026, she served as Director of Dramaturgy for Ballett Dortmund and the NRW Juniorballett, and she continues her collaboration with Theater Dortmund as a guest dramaturg. Her recent choreographic projects include Spamalot at Staatstheater Augsburg, which premiered in June, and she is already hard at work preparing her next project: the world premiere of Die Verwandlung for Staatstheater Augsburg and Theater Winterthur, directed by Augsburg Intendant André Bücker.
