Before the curtain went up at the Staatstheater Kassel, our Director of Operations, Andrew Liefländer, sat down with the two of them for a very off-the-cuff interview (… that’s the term we’re going for 😄) to chat about working together, what they were looking forward to in the performance, and a few things in between. In February 2019, Kanttila Management held auditions for its artists at the Aalto Musiktheater in Essen. Representatives attended from Deutsche Oper am Rhein, Theater Dortmund, Opera Bonn, Stuttgart Staatsoper, Opera Lyon, Nederlandse Reisopera, Nationaltheater Mannheim, Semperoper Dresden, Landestheater Detmold, Staatsoper Hannover, Oper Graz, Opera St. Gallen, Oper Wuppertal, Theater Koblenz, Bregenz Opera Festival, Theater Freiburg, Theater Krefeld und Mönchengladbach, Opera Cairo (Egypt), Musiktheater im Revier, Oper Köln, Bruckner-House Linz, PromFest Pärnu, Estonia, Tartu Opera, Staatsoper Oldenburg and Teatro Coccia di Novara, alongside a producer from ZDF.
