Carl Rumstadt

Baritone Carl Rumstadt, a native of Bavaria, received his vocal training at the Hochschule für Musik Nürnberg and the Hochschule für Musik und Theater München, studying under Professors Siegfried Jerusalem and Fenna Kügel Seifried.

Following the completion of his studies, Mr. Rumstadt joined the ensemble of Bern Opera and later became a member of the ensemble at Theater Trier. In 2022, he joined the ensemble of Theater Bonn, where he continues to perform. He has also appeared as a guest artist at numerous opera houses, including the Staatsoper Unter den Linden Berlin, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Royal Opera House Muscat, Oper Graz, Staatstheater Meiningen, Staatstheater Kassel, Staatstheater Nürnberg, Theater Dortmund, Theater Osnabrück, and the Münchner Biennale.

Mr. Rumstadt’s repertoire includes leading baritone roles such as the title characters in Don Giovanni, Il barbiere di Siviglia, Le nozze di Figaro (in which he has sung both Figaro and Count Almaviva), and Eugene Onegin. His further operatic roles include Rodrigo in Don Carlo, Marcello in La Bohème, Wolfram in Tannhäuser, the Father in Hänsel und Gretel, Eisenstein in Die Fledermaus, Danilo in The Merry Widow, and Prince Tarquinius in The Rape of Lucretia.

In concert, Mr. Rumstadt has appeared as a soloist in major works such as Brahms’ Ein deutsches Requiem, Mendelssohn’s Elias and Paulus, Mahler’s Lieder eines fahrenden Gesellen and Kindertotenlieder, and Orff’s Carmina Burana.
