Born in Riva del Garda, Davide Piva graduated with top marks, honours, and an honourable mention from Conservatorio “F. A. Bonporti” in Trento. He has been recognized in several international competitions, including the Riccardo Zandonai Prize and Public Award (XXVI Opera Competition “Riccardo Zandonai”), Third Prize and Emotion Prize -Audition Award (10th Concorso Lirico Internazionale di Portofino CLIP), and Second Prize (6th Concorso Internazionale di Canto Lirico VOX MUTINAE Nicolai Ghiaurov). In 2022, he joined the Accademia di Opera del Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino in Florence.
Mr. Piva has performed at Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino and Goldoni Theatre Florence in roles including Quinault (Adriana Lecouvreur), Count Ceprano (Rigoletto), Guglielmo (Così fan tutte), Antonio (Le Nozze di Figaro), Sylvan (Acis et Galatée), Frate Bordone (Jeanne Dark) and Alcindoro and Benoit (La Bohème).
Recent engagements include Dulcamara (L’Elisir d’amore, Viterbo), Angelotti (Tosca, Musica Riva Festival), Don Bartolo (Il Barbiere di Siviglia, Teatro Carlo Coccia Novara), Leporello (Don Giovanni, Teatro Sociale Trento), and Vittorio Marandola (Il Quarto Uomo, Teatro Romano Fiesole).
Mr. Piva is the winner of the Riccardo Zandonai Prize and Public Award (XXVI Opera Competition “Riccardo Zandonai”); he also holds Third Prize and Emotion Prize - Audition Award from the 10th Concorso Lirico Internazionale di Portofino CLIP, and Second Prize from the 6th Concorso Internazionale di Canto Lirico VOX MUTINAE Nicolai Ghiaurov.

Last week, we introduced bass-baritone Davide Piva everyone as one of our newest signings here at Kanttila!
Now it’s time to see him in action 😉 During the Moniuzsko 2025, he performed the aria Udite, udite o rustici from Donizetti’s L’elisir d’amore with pianist Aleksander Chodacki - a famously ‘wordy’ aria, but no challenge in sight for the Italian bass-baritone.
