Jérémie Schütz

Swiss-French tenor Jérémie Schütz studied at the Haute École de Musique in Lausanne before joining the prestigious Accademia Teatro alla Scala in Milan for the 2016–2017 season. He has participated in masterclasses with artists such as Ludovic Tézier, Béatrice Uria-Monzon, and Renato Bruson, and has been coached by Hiroko Kawamichi and Ludovic Tézier.

Mr. Schütz made his operatic debut at the Grand Théâtre de Genève in 2015 as Rodolphe in Guillaume Tell and Hélénus in Les Troyens. While at Teatro alla Scala, he appeared in Die Entführung aus dem Serail, La Traviata, Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg, and La Bohème. In subsequent seasons, he performed Rinuccio in Gianni Schicchi at the Opéra national de Lorraine, Jacopo Foscari in I due Foscari in Saint-Moritz, and Don José in Carmen in Eauze and Geneva, among others. He covered the title role in Les Contes d’Hoffmann and Werther at the Opéra National de Bordeaux and the Greek National Opera.

Recent highlights include Mario Cavaradossi in Tosca at both the Bâtiment des Forces Motrices in Geneva and Opéra du Rhône, as well as his staged role debut as Hoffmann in Nancy. In 2024 and 2025, he will appear as Mario Cavaradossi in Tosca at the Oper Erfurt, Calaf in Turandot (participatory version) at the Opéra Grand Avignon, and Rodolfo in La Bohème at the DomStufen-Festspiele.

On the concert stage, Mr. Schütz has performed a wide range of repertoire including Rossini’s Petite messe solennelle, Puccini’s Messa di Gloria, Mendelssohn’s Paulus, Beethoven’s Christus am Ölberge and Ninth Symphony, Mozart’s Requiem, and Ramirez’s Misa Criolla and Navidad Nuestra. He has sung under the direction of Jesús López Cobos, Charles Dutoit, Nello Santi, Daniele Gatti, Evelino Pidò, and Marc Minkowski.

Mr. Schütz was a finalist in the 2022 Vincerò Competition and a laureate of the Weltner Stiftung in 2016. In 2014, he received both the Contemporary Melody Prize and the Young Talent Award at the Symphonies d’Automne International Competition in Mâcon.
