Roger Krebs is a Swiss bass and ensemble member at Theater Regensburg, where he has appeared since the 2022/23 season. He will open the upcoming season there as King Marke in Tristan und Isolde, and has earned audience recognition for his portrayals of Banco in Macbeth and Vodník in Rusalka. Previous ensemble work includes three seasons at the Schleswig-Holsteinisches Landestheater in Flensburg.
Mr. Krebs received his vocal training at the Peter Cornelius Conservatory in Mainz, followed by masterclasses with artists such as Kurt Moll, Harald Stamm, and Edda Moser at the Munich Singing School. He has maintained a longstanding artistic collaboration with vocal coach David L. Jones in New York.
His repertoire includes Sarastro in Die Zauberflöte, a role he has sung at various venues including the Hamburg Symphony Orchestra, Opera på Skäret, and the Salzburg “Opera in the Mountain” Festival. Other notable roles include Daland in Der fliegende Holländer at the Thüringer Schlossfestspiele and Opera på Skäret, Rocco and the Landgrave at the Mecklenburgisches Staatstheater Schwerin, and Sparafucile and Masetto at the Schleswig-Holsteinisches Landestheater. He has also appeared as Don Basilio at the Skive Opera Festival, where he created the role of Polonius in the world premiere of Jeppe Nörgaard Jacobsen’s Hamlet. Concert engagements have taken him to Liechtenstein, Guernsey, and Sweden, including a gala performance at the 750th anniversary celebration of Örebro.
Guest engagements include appearances at Theater Vorpommern Stralsund/Greifswald as the Hermit in Der Freischütz, Theater Münster (Nabucco), and the Munich Biennale in Manuela Kerer’s Innen. He has also worked under the direction of Toni Burkhardt, Frank Hilbrich, and Bruno Berger-Gorski, and collaborated with conductors such as Axel Kober, Markus L. Frank, and Fabrizio Ventura.
Mr. Krebs is the recipient of several competition awards, including first prize and the audience prize at the 2018 Grandi Voci Competition in Amerang, third prize at the 10th Vox Artis Competition in Sibiu, and a special prize at the 2017 Armel Opera Festival in Budapest for his performance as Sarastro.
