Vera Talerko

Latvian soprano Vera Talerko has established an international career across opera and concert stages in Scandinavia and Central Europe. Her recent engagements include Fama in Venere e Adone at Teatro La Fenice, Susanna in Figaro Gets a Divorce at the Royal Swedish Opera, Susanna in Le nozze di Figaro and Pamina in Die Zauberflöte at the Estates Theatre in Prague, and Adina in L’elisir d’amore at Prague State Opera. In 2026, she also appears as Nedda in a concert performance of Pagliacci with the Norrköping Symphony Orchestra.

Ms. Talerko has been a regular guest in Prague since 2020, where her repertoire at Prague State Opera and the Estates Theatre has included Musetta (La bohème), Adina (L’elisir d’amore), Pamina (Die Zauberflöte), Sophie (Der Rosenkavalier), Marzelline (Fidelio), Bubikopf (Der Kaiser von Atlantis), and Susanna (Le nozze di Figaro). Further recent engagements include Micaëla in Carmen at both the Royal Swedish Opera and Gothenburg Opera, as well as Fama in the world premiere of Salvatore Sciarrino’s Venere e Adone at the Hamburg State Opera under Kent Nagano.

From 2016 to 2017, Ms. Talerko was a member of the Young Artist Program at the Norwegian National Opera, where she performed Amore (Orfeo ed Euridice), Lola (Cavalleria rusticana), Frasquita (Carmen), Musetta (La bohème), and Marzelline (Fidelio). She later returned to the company as Clorinda in La Cenerentola. She studied at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre with Asta Krikščiūnaitė, completing both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in opera singing, following earlier studies in classical singing, music theory, and choral conducting in her native Latvia.

On the concert stage, Ms. Talerko has appeared as a soloist with the Belgrade Philharmonic, Lithuanian National Philharmonic Orchestra, Slovenian Symphony Orchestra, and Oslo University Choir. Her concert repertoire includes Bach’s Mass in B minor, Mozart’s Great Mass, Dvořák’s Stabat Mater, Rossini’s Petite messe solennelle, Ravel’s Shéhérazade, and works by Shostakovich, Haydn, and Moniuszko.

Ms. Talerko was awarded First Prize and the Audience Prize at the 2022 Wilhelm Stenhammar International Music Competition in Sweden, having previously received the competition’s Mozart Prize in 2018. Further distinctions include First Prize at the International Bel Canto competition at Rossini in Wildbad in 2017 and First Prize at the Zaunienė Competition in Vilnius in 2016.
