Kalle Kanttila

Kalle Kanttila is the Founder and CEO of Kanttila Management, an international artist management agency established in 2012. Based between Germany and Finland, Mr. Kanttila leads the agency’s artistic direction, roster development, and international partnerships, working with singers, conductors, and stage directors across Europe and internationally.

Over more than a decade in artist management, Mr. Kanttila has developed an extensive network among opera houses, casting departments, artistic directors, and other institutions within the profession. His work centres on the long-term development of artists, combining an understanding of artistic potential with the practical realities of the international opera industry. Alongside negotiating and coordinating engagements, he advises artists on repertoire, positioning, professional development, and the broader strategic decisions that shape a sustainable career.

Mr. Kanttila is regularly invited to serve on the juries of international singing competitions, including the Hans Gabor Belvedere Singing Competition, Competizione dell’Opera, the Panco Vladigerov International Singing Competition, the Concorso Lirico Salice d’Oro, the Vello Jürna Singing Competition, the Lions Singing Competition at the Immling Festival, the Zinka Milanov International Singing Competition, and the Salvatore Licitra Competition in Milan. He is also active as a mentor and lecturer, leading audition training, consultations, workshops, and masterclasses, including through his work with the Bavarian Opera Academy. As a guest lecturer, he has collaborated with institutions in Helsinki, Vienna, New York, Miami, San Francisco, Graz, Bucharest, Georgia, and elsewhere, including the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki. His teaching draws closely on his work as an artist manager and focuses on the transition from artistic training to professional practice.

Before founding Kanttila Management, Mr. Kanttila worked professionally as a tenor. He was a soloist in the ensembles of Theater Regensburg and the Staatsoper Nürnberg and appeared as a guest at houses and festivals including the Komische Oper Berlin, Nationaltheater Mannheim, Staatstheater Wiesbaden, Staatstheater Darmstadt, Badisches Staatstheater Karlsruhe, Wuppertaler Bühnen, the Schwetzingen Festival, and the Savonlinna Opera Festival. His experience as a performer continues to inform his approach to artist representation and his understanding of the artistic, personal, and professional demands of a singing career.

Born in Oulu, Finland, Mr. Kanttila began his musical studies at the Helsinki Conservatory of Music before continuing his education in Zürich and Karlsruhe, where he completed his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees.
