Peter Dolinšek

Slovenian bass Peter Dolinšek has been a member of the Oper Leipzig soloist ensemble since 2022, developing a repertoire that ranges from Mozart and Rossini to Puccini and Shostakovich. In 2026, he sang Simon in Lortzing’s Regina. His recent roles with the company also include Sarastro in Die Zauberflöte, Colline in La bohème and Barone di Trombonok in Rossini’s Il viaggio a Reims.

His work in Leipzig encompasses both the classical bass repertoire and a range of character roles. Alongside Masetto in Don Giovanni and Curio in Giulio Cesare in Egitto, he has sung the Sacristan in Tosca, Hans in Undine, Montano in Otello and Pistola in Falstaff. Further appearances include Monterone in Rigoletto and the Old Convict in Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk. He has worked under conductors including Matthias Foremny, Christoph Gedschold, Antonino Fogliani, Jonathan Darlington and Ruben Dubrovsky.

Guest engagements have taken Mr. Dolinšek to Oper Halle, Oper Chemnitz and Deutsche Oper am Rhein in Duisburg. In 2023, he appeared as Sarastro at the Festspiel der deutschen Sprache in Bad Lauchstädt. His wider stage repertoire also includes works by Britten.

Mr. Dolinšek’s early distinctions include a place in the final of the Joseph Haydn International Singing Competition in Rohrau in 2021 and a Gabriele Sima Foundation scholarship in 2019. He won first prize at the Petar Konjović Competition in Belgrade in 2016 and the singing category at Daleki Akordi in Split.

Mr. Dolinšek began his vocal studies with Alenka Slokar Bajc at the Vič-Rudnik Music School in Ljubljana in 2013. He completed a bachelor’s degree in solo singing at the Music and Arts University of the City of Vienna, studying with Michail Lanskoi and Akiko Nakajima, and belonged to the Vienna State Opera’s choir academy from 2019 to 2021. Since 2022, he has continued his studies with Roland Schubert at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy Leipzig.
